Interview Violet Chachki
How has your drag grown since RPDR? Well now, I have the audience and the budget to do things that I've always wanted to do. Polish and production value has certainly gone up!
Which fashion show would you like to open? My own
Do you clean your house in drag? God no!
What is the most memorable thing from touring so far? Oh thats tough, I've been touring for so long. I think my trip to New Dehli, India was very memorable. the whole experience was amazing- the shopping, the culture, the architecture, the history.
Which country embraces drag most? Lots of countries embrace drag. I think the wildest fans are in South America.
Do you want to visit special places while you are in the Netherlands (if yes; which)? Well I love the Netherlands, I was recently in Amsterdam and did a lovely canal tour and I got to visit the homomonument, and my friends Viktor and Rolf and their gorgeous atelier. I would love to explore more outside of Amsterdam.
Why should everyone do drag at least once? I don't necessarily think everyone should- its not for everyone. Drag was originally used within the queer community as a form of survival and protest and I don't think many people realize that and therefor aren't able to give drag the reverence is deserves. But hey- if you want to try it, go for it! (hopefully there's nothing stopping you) it can be great fun and a good way to learn things about yourself and other that you didn't know.
What should we expect from you in 5 years? Retierment!
